Werner Embrechts

Werner is responsible for leading all aspects of the facilities at JLABS @ Beerse and overall site management, including accountability for regulatory compliance, security, budget development and management, customer relationship management, and administration of vendor agreements and amendments. He provides companies with support focused on JLABS excellence in the service delivery model and customer relationship management. Werner enables efficient operational workflows to ensure compliance related to Environmental Health and Safety and Standard Operating Procedures. In addition, he is responsible for setting expectations and managing relationships with suppliers that assist with daily operations.

Before joining the Johnson & Johnson Innovation family, Werner was part of the Janssen Research Laboratory in Belgium. Over the past 25 years, Werner has been involved in medicinal chemistry research covering many therapeutic targets. In this role, he was responsible for the design and synthesis of novel drug candidates, resulting in several patent applications and publications in scientific journals.

Werner completed his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and joined Janssen as an Assistant Research Scientist in the dermatology field, moving on to other areas, including oncology and infectious diseases, and co-authoring more than 4O patents and scientific publications.

In his free time, Werner attends cooking classes and enjoys time with his new grandson.
