Supporting Mental Health in Startups

Ever heard of the term “Founder Blues”? 72% of entrepreneurs are dealing with mental health concerns, compared to a mere 7% of the general public. Entrepreneurs are 50% more likely to report having a mental health condition.

Startups are constantly dealing with a number of unknowns – cash flow, investor expectations, stability, as well as long hours – all of which can make the workplace emotional and stressful. But when your company is running lean and mean, how can you ensure that employees are receiving support for their mental health and wellbeing?

Although the culture of startups is typically more open, a stigma remains. Many founders are unaware of how their business can impact both physical and mental health, and without an HR department, it’s easy to lose focus of prioritizing a balanced lifestyle for yourself, and your employees.
