Cincinnati Children’s Hospital:Children are often anxious about wearing a medical mask to fall asleep for surgery (anesthesia induction). Abby Hess, APRN, DNP and her team developed a breathing-controlled video game app and a device that connects the game to standard anesthesia equipment. Through a series of mini-games, the "Zoo Adventure" app aims to help children become comfortable with wearing a medical mask before surgery and calmly engages them as they fall asleep. The device is designed to be seamlessly integrated into the complex & fast-paced operating room environment.
Natural Nipple:The Natural Nipple is a unique bottle modeled after a mother’s breast size, nipple shape and milk flow designed to promote prolonged breastfeeding invented by CEO Lauren Wright, PhD student, MSN, AGNP-BC and led alongside COO Tram Pham DNP, APRN, NP-C, ONC

Announcing theJohnson & Johnson Nurses Innovate QuickFire Challenge, inviting the more than 3.2 million nurses located throughout the U.S. tosubmit ideasfor new devices, health technologies, protocols or treatment approaches that have the power to profoundly impact patient care and human health. The nursing innovators with the best idea(s) will receive up to $100,000 in grants and access to mentoring and coaching from Johnson & Johnson, via Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS to help bring their ideas to life.

Criteria
We are looking for the best new devices, health technologies, protocols or treatment approaches that can change human health from practicing or retired nurses located within the United States.
Solutions will be evaluated by a panel of reviewers and judges on their ability to meet the following criteria:
- Uniqueness of the idea
- Potential impact on human health
- Feasibility of the idea
- Thoroughness of approach
- Identification of key resources and plan to further idea

Q: What if I’m having trouble accessing the portal/website?

Q: Can I submit supporting documents (for example a video) as part of my application?
A: You will have the opportunity and are encouraged to upload supporting materials such as slide decks, research papers, and videos as part of your application. You may submit a video along with your typed responses. Maximum length is 2 minutes.
Q: Is it ok if some of the information I submit is confidential?
A: Do not submit confidential information. Only non-confidential information should be submitted and anything you submit will be treated as non-confidential.
Q: What happens with IP (Intellectual Property)?
A: As this is a no strings attached arrangement, JLABS does not acquire any IP. Any IP creation and/or protection remains the sole responsibility of the inventors.
Q: Is a patent required to apply?
A: No, a patent is not required to apply. However, you should not submit any information that you wish to keep confidential or that may negatively impact upon the future patentability of your invention.
